changed username to Guy B. Guy B.: Hi Rich rich-c: hi Guy rich-c: sorry - Dr. D. is with us so not watching here Guy B.: How's everything there? We are having lake effect snow. rich-c: we are bright and sunny, -16 or +3F rich-c: we have Rich, Erin and Pamela here rich-c: later we are going out to the Mandarin buffet for dinner Guy B.: I bet it's cold up there too. rich-c: yes, that it surely is, and they are talking -20 tonight - that's aboput -4F Guy B.: My new 64mb video card is installed and I reinstalled my two games and it worked. rich-c: somehow or other I can't imagine a game requiring a 64 MB video, but I know they exist rich-c: Pam is loaning me one of her DVDs so I can try playing it on my new burner Guy B.: The two I have required at least a 32mb card. And the 64 was less than the 32mb. rich-c: if you can get better ofr less, go for it! Guy B.: I'm also trying out Mozilla Firebird web browser. rich-c: I have heard very good things about that - it's now on a Linux core though, isn't it? rich-c: technically I believe IE as well asd Netscape are considered Mozilla browsers Guy B.: There is a window's version. It's based off Netscape. rich-c: I know it's open source so IE and Netsc can build on it rich-c: you'll notice some mail programs or pages sense IE and NS as Mozilla Guy B.: I tried it with the chat and I ended up installing a new version of Java, but I didn't get the chat box. So, I'm on IE 5.5 rich-c: you down, oded teh latest from Sun and it still wouldn't work? that's wierd Guy B.: I know. rich-c: just asked Rich about it but he hasn't had any experience in that rich-c: but we can't understand how with IE and NS Mozilla-based, the parent program wont do the job Guy B.: Maybe they are different rich-c: well, IE and NS add significant bells and whistles, but I'm surprised they would make a difference in that area rich-c: maybe since the chat program is old, it is based on an antiquated version of Java that conflicts with the latest? Guy B.: Since I forgot to connect the crossover cable to the Athlon to the Dell. I'm using the dialup on the Dell and DSL here on the Athlon Guy B.: Just to install a new update on the Antivir program. rich-c: Frances and Pamela are after me to move to DSL - they say it's so we can keep the phone line free rich-c: I have my Anti-Vir on a three-week cycle for updates; it seems to be adequate Guy B.: Look into it. It will cost more than dialup, but it fast and you won't wait forever to download files. rich-c: right now I have a problem; the virus warning screen comes up in German even though the rest of teh program is in English

changed username to Daniel Bienvenu Daniel Bienvenu: Yes, it's me! rich-c: bonjour, Daniel, ca va? Daniel Bienvenu: hello! Daniel Bienvenu: oui! Daniel Bienvenu: Dr.D est là aussi? rich-c: oui, il est chez nous aujour'hui Daniel Bienvenu: allo Guy! Guy B.: Hi Daniel rich-c: Pamela, Erin and Rich all say hello, Daniel Guy B.: I get that too. Guy B.: The first button is Delete rich-c: until I did a recent update, my Anti-Vir warning screen was in English - then it changed rich-c: yes, Frances has some German and we have a German dictionary Daniel Bienvenu: Hi Pam, Erin and Rich :D Guy B.: Sometimes the Internet Update scans different servers. And it picks whatever one it hits. rich-c: but if it does that, why would the rest of the program remain in English? rich-c: also, if I recall, the URL they wre using was listed as being an English-language one Guy B.: That's what's odd about it. My sister ended up calling me over when she got that screen. rich-c: I was looking to send them an email but couldn't find an address rich-c: I notice, Daniel, that you attached one of your ROMs to today's message rich-c: you seem to be really pushing on with the programming Guy B.: Daniel, how many games are you planning to do? rich-c: Guy, I know you've tried AVG; have you tried Avast? Guy B.: No rich-c: nor I but there is some favourable buzz about it rich-c: I don't want to fuss with my computer right now as it seems a bit fragile Guy B.: Might as well keep things the way they are. rich-c: well, since I put in that strane program that creates the phantom drive, something is wrong with my CD burner Daniel Bienvenu: How many games?... about 10 rich-c: it isnt that important as the DD burner will do the same job anyway Guy B.: Wow, how many have you completed? rich-c: right now you are limiting yourself to fairly simple games, right, Daniel? rich-c: do either of you know if any of the old commercial CP/M programs for the Adam are still floating around anywahere? rich-c: I'm thinking of stuff like dBASE II or SuperCalc Guy B.: I have a few programs that I bought Niad and that one other company that has PD programs. rich-c: far as I know teh big programs never went PD - and NIAD of course is long gone Guy B.: I remember when Coleco threw that brochure from Westico. The company went out of business later. The programs were very expensive at the time. rich-c: yes, you'd have thought they were practicing to be Microsoft! Guy B.: I know the Sintel web site has a CP/M section there. Guy B.: I wonder that myself. rich-c: don't know that one - www.sintel.com? rich-c: of course even if you could download them, transferring them to Adam media would be difficult Guy B.: Oh, I mean't simtel rich-c: and then you'd have to configure them to the Adam requirements from a generic state, I think rich-c: OK - hold on a sec while I look at it Daniel Bienvenu: it's not simtel? Daniel Bienvenu: www.simtel.net? Guy B.: Yes, that's the one. rich-c: just checked simtel.com but no mention of CP/M on their entry page Daniel Bienvenu: "right now you are limiting yourself to fairly simple games, right, Daniel?" Yes, to put as many games as possible in one ROM rich-c: OK, I'll look again Guy B.: Try that Rich. rich-c: same as simtel.com; if they have the old programs they don't advertise the fact, Guy Daniel Bienvenu: the only cp/m files i found in simtel are cp/m emulation for DOS rich-c: I would think, Daniel, that you qould prefer quality to quantity Daniel Bienvenu: I already do quality games, I try to do something different each time rich-c: still, if you can squeeze good playability into 3K, go for it rich-c: one keeps forgetting that even 3K is big in an 8-bit system Daniel Bienvenu: DACMAN, BUSTIN-OUT (sexy breakout), MISS SPACE FURY, BEJEWELED, REVERSI, DOUBLE BREAKOUT, GAMEPACK#1... all these games are mine and were released in 2000-2003 rich-c: that is a seriously impressive catalogue, Daniel Daniel Bienvenu: Now I try to do a GAMEPACK#2 with boardgames Guy B.: I'll have to check it again then. Daniel Bienvenu: I helped in some projects too : 421, AMAZING SNAKE and CV-DRUM rich-c: you are certainly being very active, then Daniel Bienvenu: I released many tools and a programming doc... Guy B.: I'll say. Daniel, where's can we download all these at? rich-c: yes, and I know our enthusiasts are finding them useful rich-c: anyway, gentlemen, I think I had better rejoin my guests rich-c: so I shall bid you both adieu and see you Wednesday Daniel Bienvenu: You can download ROM files in some ROM web sites or my Coleco web site at: Daniel Bienvenu: www.geocities.com/newcoleco rich-c: bye for now Daniel Bienvenu: bye rich! see you later! :D Guy B.: Ok, Rich. I'll be there around 9 Central time. Bye rich-c: *poof*
rich-c left chat session Guy B.: Well, I'll be going too. Have to take my dog for a walk. So, I'll see you Wednesday Daniel. Guy B.: *poof*
